BOK Juniors- We Need You!

The junior calendar for orienteering events is generally made up of individual competitions at varying levels. But we are currently seeking junior runners (of any standard, from M/W 10s up to M/W 18s) to represent BOK at two national, junior team competitions.

Yvette Baker Trophy

This is an inter-club competition, just for juniors. We have won this in the past and last year, qualified for the final but couldn't quite form a team for the finals over in Sandringham.

This year, things are more positive. The regional qualifier is being held as Blackborough, Devon, on Sunday 29th March and BOK are hosting the final at Westonbirt Arboretum, on Sunday 5th July.

If this is your first time representing the club, don't worry! We require a team of mixed standards and it's a great chance to meet and spend time with other junior club mates.

There are a number of ways we can build the team. If you are keen to come along to this great event please let Steve Lee-Jones know your Name, Age, BOF age class (see BOK Junior Page for Calculator) and what colour course you usually run at events.

Peter Palmer Relays- 5/6th September 2020

This is one of the most exciting junior events in the British Orienteering calendar. The Peter Palmers is a junior-only, national relay competition, held annually at different locations around the country.

It is a 6 leg race, starting before sunrise on the Sunday morning. The first two legs are night orienteering, followed by a couple of dawn legs and finally, two legs in the daylight. The legs are of different standards (from Yellow - Green) and we can adapt the team to suit those who have (or haven't) experienced Night O before.

This year, the event is being held in the beautiful Lake District, on the shores of Derwent Water. There is a training event on the Saturday, followed by evening activities and food at an unusually luxurious activity centre. The team then set up the tent, ready for the competition the following morning.

Arranging logistics for this is hard work, so please let us know as soon as possible if you'd like to take part. Often, this is forgotten until after the summer holidays, which makes everything quite last minute!

If you would like to take part, or have further questions, please let us know by contacting BOK Juniors.
