The annual Original Mountain Marathon (OMM) Long Distance Endurance event was held over the 200 square km of Clyde Muirshield Regional Park to the east of Largs, in eastern Scotland. The OMM website described the terrain as endless ascents and descents over bog, tussock and heathery fells pushed even the hardiest of competitors to their limits.  This rarely visited area (by ‘normal’ outdoor folk) provided sparse, if any, path sightings leaving the relentless terrain to be tackled head on.  The results headlined on Ben and Chris Kelsey who completed the Day 1 42.5km 1590m climb course in 12.04.12 and Day 2 34.6km 1470m in 9.10.23 carrying overnight camping and safety equipment.

To quote from the OMM Results:  "At the more experienced end of the field,  Chris Kelsey joined the 30 year club  while partnered by his son Ben after a gruelling 21 hours to complete the Elite course, their first Elite finish and an impressive demonstration of endurance."

Chris is a long standing member of the club, planning the BOK Trot at Wavering Down and being in winning Relay teams. Finishing 30 OMM courses is a tremendous achievement and completing the Elite at M60 is remarkable.

Many will remember Ben as a BOK Junior, he now lives in Sheffield and this year joined his Dad in having completed the exclusive 'Bob Graham Round' Lakeland Challenge.
