Southern Champs and UKOL weekend
The weekend of 30th/31st March was scheduled for NGOC and BOK to put on two top orienteering events in the Forest of Dean.
We regret to have to report that the Forestry Commission has made a late decision to deny access for our Major event on March 31st. The reason given is that we would be disturbing the nesting process of the forest’s population of goshawks. We have no alternative other than to postpone this event to later in the year.
If you have pre-entered for the Mike Nelson BOK Trot and Southern Championships, you will receive a refund of your entry fees. Both organising clubs for the planned weekend’s orienteering on March 30 and 31, BOK and NGOC, have decided that to withhold any part of your entry fee would be unfair and you will receive a full refund in due course from Fabian4. We are very conscious that some competitors have already made bookings for the weekend and may be out of pocket as result. We regret very much that this has happened and apologise for any inconvenience caused. We have also made the FC aware of this consequence of their actions.
We are of course disappointed with this outcome, but we are working to reschedule the event to ensure that the 2019 Southern Championships will indeed take place. We hope to be able to publish details soon but in the meantime we thank you for your support of this event and look forward to seeing you on the rearranged date.
If you entered the NGOC event only and wish to check their official statement, please refer to their website below:
